As more and more applications come to rely on the uniquely useful O ring, sales are growing about twice as fast as the rest of the world's economy.  But there is a problem - many of them don't work properly!

There is a common trap that people fall into – they think that just because a seal keeps out water, oil and other liquids then it is up to the job.  But they forget about vapours, which can often pass through easily and in great quantities - before condensing on the wrong side and causing equipment failures.  Versaperm can help.

Versaperm equipment allows you to measure and test the vapour permeability of materials, O-rings and even complete finished product, so you check if the materials and manufacturing processes you use work for your product or application.  For example, seals including materials such as silicone, cellulose,  EVOH or PVOH can be virtually useless in applications where water as either a liquid or a vapour is present.  Other materials perform badly for oxygen, hydrocarbons, CO2 and other gasses.

Considering that water vapour is the world's single most widespread contaminate, the problem can be acute.

The Versaperm's meter can simultaneously measure vapour permeability with several samples, seals or enclosures at a time, often give a result in as little as 30 minutes – conventional gravimetric testing would take days or even weeks to achieve the same result.  Pressure, temperature and humidity are optionally controllable over an exceptionally wide range.

Versaperm's newest permeability measurement instruments allow you to resolve problems for virtually any seal or gas application – including  water vapour, hydrocarbons, solvents, greases, oxygen, CO2 , nitrogen and virtually every gas in general use.

The meter is easy to use and gives a series of measurements that can be recorded or simply read off a screen.  It needs no re-calibration and requires, at most, minimal training to give results that can be as accurate to better than one part per million (with some materials and gasses a few parts per billion).

This allows you to determine which materials, seals, mastics, or O rings are right for your individual product, application or equipment.

As well as manufacturing the instruments, Versaperm offers both a laboratory testing service and a consultancy for companies that only need to test samples on an irregular basis.
